Pakistan Women v Thailand Women ? Asian Cricket Council Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup (Group A) ? Match Recap
Aided by a 5-wicket haul from Marina Iqbal, the Pakistan Women claimed a comprehensive 97-run win over the Thailand Women in their Group A match during the ongoing Asian Cricket Council Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup, at the Guanggong International Cricket Stadium in China on October 24.
The Thailand Women won the toss and decided to field first, but a handful of steady partnerships saw the Pakistan Women managing to post a final total of 129 by the end of 20 overs.
Opener Qanita Jalil (9) was dismissed early in the innings, sent packing by Nattaya Boochatham in the third over, but Bismah Maroof (23) and skipper Sana Mir (11) went on to set up a 32-run stand which kept the innings moving forward.
Nantanit Konchan struck in the 10th over, running out Sana Mir and following it up in the very same over with the dismissal of Maroof. Nain Abidi (1) was unable to apply herself at the crease, and departed in the very next over off Rattana Sangsoma ? however, Nida Dar (14) and Javeria Khan (who top-scored for the team with 33) steadied the innings to a great degree with a 36-run stand for the 5th wicket.
Their efforts got the team up to 88 by the 16th over, after which Thailand Women skipper Somnarin Tippoch took Nida Dar out of the game. Javeria Khan followed her back to the pavilion in the very next over, run out by wicketkeeper Pundarika Prathanmitr.
Asmavia Iqbal (18*) and Mariam Hasan (7) set up the final partnership of the innings ? a 28-run stand which came to an end on the final ball of the last over, with the dismissal of Mariam Hasan via run out. By the end of 20 overs, the Pakistan Women posted a final total of 129, at the expense of 7 wickets.
The Pakistan Women then went on to launch a fierce bowling attack, spearheaded by Player of the Match Marina Iqbal (3-0-10-5), who was supported in her efforts by Qanita Jalil (4-1-5-2), while Asmavia Iqbal and Bismah Maroof chipped in with one wicket each.
None of the Thailand Women?s batters managed to proceed beyond single-digit scores, and three batters ? Boochatham, Naruemol Chaiwai, and Nattakan Chantam were dismissed on duck. Skipper Tippoch, Premwadee Doungsin, and Phira-on Khamla all contributed 4 runs each, while Prathanmitr and Konchan managed 2 each, and Chanida Sutthiruang and Ratanaporn Padunglerd scored 1 each.
The Pakistani Women?s bowling attack proved too fierce for the Thailand Women to handle, and their batters fell without putting up much of a fight. By the 16th over of their innings, the Thailand Women were all out at a paltry 32, and the Pakistan Women went on to claim a 97-run win.
