Andrew and Olga moved in a lodging on Griboedov Channel eight years ago, after a year of redecoration works. Under a self-planned outlay and interior design, a six-room communal apartment turned into a spacious 3-room flat. The kitchen got joint with the lounge, leaving two full-fledged bedrooms ? for daughter and parents. Being unwilling to play around with colors, the hosts painted the whole flat light-gray.
Most of the furniture items were purchased in commission shops and on Udelnaya Street. Olga has restored all antiques by herself, including a blue sideboard in the daughter?s bedroom, a marble table top and a walnut cupboard in the lounge. Huge fans of an Indian shop on Ligovskoi Avenue, Andrew and Olga frequently refresh their interior with new d?cor details: like a chest in the bedroom, or wooden candlesticks, wrapped in foil, in the lounge. Another feature is souvenirs from all over the world: a marionette from Thai puppet show on the lounge windowsill, or old Christmas-tree papier-m?ch? decorations on the venetian blinds.
Curtains, pillows and bedspreads were sewed by Olga herself.
A wooden horse was bought on Udelnaya Street.
The boxes come from India and Spain.
As Andrew is engaged in construction industry, and Olga ? in restoration and landscape design, the bookshelves are filled with architect?s literature, brought from Europe.
The bedroom of the host?s daughter, Hanna.
Hanging over the bed is Hanna?s portrait, painted by her husband.
The sideboard arrived from a commission shop to be painted blue.
The collection of small cars springs from Hanna?s childhood.
There is a hand-made carpet in every room.
The clay pot came to Olga through her Grandma.
Little round statuettes were bought in China.
Hanging over the worktable in the bedroom is Hanna?s graduation project ? a model of an Olympic village.
The marble table top was found in a purchasing shop.
Olga and Andrew brought the doll from Thailand.
The apartment may boast a rich collection of dolls, which belongs to the hostess and Hanna.
The foiled wooden candlesticks were dug out by Olga in a commission shop.
