Overview:
The Senior Manager of Business Process Support leads and oversees a team of project and portfolio managers who support Genentech?s alignment and application of the PT Business Process Model. The Senior Manager plays a key leadership role and sponsors the Business Process Improvement process (BPIp). The individual partners closely with other functions and groups to provide business process development, improvement, implementation, communication, education and change management services to the Business Process Owner sponsored projects. The individual and their team will partner with and support Business Process Owners (BPOs) and Business Process Managers (BPMs) with process, system and/or data improvement projects. Extensive business process experience and strong management skills are keys to success, as well as excellent communication skills and a proven record of delivering value to the business.
Job Responsibilities:

Leads and oversees the Business Process Improvement process (BPIp); Identifies, develops, implements, communicates and educates others on periodic updates or refinements to BPIp to ensure a smooth, streamlined, effective and efficient overall process
* Consistently demonstrate effective cross-functional collaboration and communication with internal customers, partners and stakeholders
* Leads and participates in departmental/team meetings, departmental planning and decision-making
* Plays a lead role in the ongoing development, refinement and maintenance of standard and departmental operating procedures (SOPs and DOPs) and Business Process documents (e.g. Business Process Policies and Procedures)
* Plays a leadership role in the department to ensure BPM NA, at all times, has and maintains sufficient resources to support their vision, strategy, plans and objectives. Analyzes, documents and reports resource load capacity and utilization of BPM NA internal and external vendor partner resources
* Defines team member and relevant vendor work assignments, responsibilities, projects and objectives
* Effective and efficient hiring, development and retention of talent within the Business Process Support team
* Effective and efficient balance of resources (internal and external) to deliver projects on-time and to the highest standards
* Plays the lead role in identifying, negotiating, contracting with, on-boarding and managing external vendor partners supporting the work of Business Process Support
* Coach and advise team members and vendors on various aspects of their work, including communications and interactions with internal customers, partners and stakeholders
* Lead the ongoing Global Performance Management process and development planning across his/her team
* Accountable for the entire project portfolio of BPO sponsored projects
Self and team participate in internal meetings, reviews, planning and decision-making groups to understand business demands and priorities as these potentially impact or otherwise implicate requirements for business processes
* Work with team members, other partners and stakeholders to develop the vision and strategy for Business Process Support
* Ensure Global BPOs have sufficient support and the highest levels of customer service
* Play the lead role in monitoring Improvement Requests (projects) and ensuring a healthy balance of Improvement Requests are occurring
* Manage and level-sets Improvement Requests across business processes
* Manage projects from initiation to delivery including resources, schedule, issues, risks and keeping project sponsors informed of project status
* Articulate opportunities incorporating business need, solution, approach and business value
* Participate as leader, team member, and/or content expert for key business and systems initiatives
* Review project ""problem statements"" and drives for long term sustainable solutions vs. ""quick wins""
* Facilitate decision-making regarding portfolio impacts potentially arising from scope changes or resource constraints
* Escalate major issues that are not being resolved to the Demand to Supply or Source to Pay BPO as appropriate
* Actively facilitates core supply chain BPO meetings
* Manage departmental external spend budget and reporting
Who You Are
* 7 or more years? related professional experience ideally gained within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry (manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, strategic planning, project and/or process management, finance, operational excellence, etc.) Multidisciplinary experience is strongly preferred
* 2 or more years? previous business process management experience in a manufacturing environment (ideally biopharmaceutical or related manufacturing)
* Proven management skills. Has made considerable departmental/team contributions through effective coaching, guidance and development of others
* Has consistently demonstrated competence when leading, organizing and prioritizing the work of others
* Strong familiarity with ERP systems. 2 or more years? experience implementing and/or using SAP
* Strong analytical skills and business acumen
* Past experience and proven competence in assessing, summarizing and presenting large volume and/or complex priorities and key decision-points for effective and timely senior management/executive-level decision-making
* Proven track record of meeting or exceeding professional, work-related objectives, goals and targets. Good decision-making skills, as evidenced through previous work experience and past results
* Experience with project management best practices and standard project management methodologies.

* Knowledge of, or previous work experience with, best practice manufacturing methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC is strongly preferred
* Knowledge of the multiple functions involved in biopharmaceutical drug development is a strong plus (development, supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, quality, compliance, regulatory, etc.) as well as cGMP and other environmental, labor and governmental regulatory guidelines and requirements
* Bachelors Degree (computer science, information systems, life sciences, engineering, business or finance disciplines preferred)
* MBA or other related graduate degree is preferred
* APICS (Operations Management), PMP (Project Management Professional), Six Sigma or other related certifications are a plus
